Job summary

Newport Academy in Washington state is seeking a Facilities and Maintenance Technician to perform a wide range of repair tasks and preventative maintenance under facilities management. You will help keep the campus safe, functional, and compliant with health and safety standards while addressing issues as they arise.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of facilities maintenance experience, a Boilers License and a Pool Operators License, and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

  • Pool Operators License in the state where facilities are located.

Responsibilities

  • Possess a working knowledge of maintenance requirements for utilities including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, backup generators, and grounds maintenance.
  • Conduct periodic facility-wide walk-throughs and document repairs to maintain aesthetics, comfort and functionality.
  • Complete Health and Safety binder requirements with daily and weekly sign-offs.
  • Conduct periodic water temperature checks and recordings.
  • Conduct periodic sprinkler system pressure/water level recordings.
  • Assist with new equipment installations and facility upgrades.
  • Perform emergency repairs to prevent and resolve health and safety issues.
  • Ensure all work is completed promptly with minimal disruption to programming and staff.
  • During inclement weather, keep walkways, entrances and grounds clear and safe.
  • Prioritize tasks by health and safety compliance importance.
  • Demonstrate knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge in building systems including air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, and general carpentry.

What You'll Do

The Facilities and Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of repair tasks as needed. Under the direction of Facilities management, responsible for always keeping the facility safe and functional and repairing any problems when discovered, as well as routine preventative maintenance as directed. Reports on any health and safety compliance requirements of the facility.

Key Performance Responsibilities:

  • Possess a working knowledge of requirements for the maintenance of all utilities including plumbing, HVAC systems, electrical, backup generators, and ground maintenance.
  • Conduct periodic facility wide walk-throughs and documentation of all repairs necessary to maintain aesthetic, comfort, and functional environment and ensure the company’s standards are met.
  • Complete Health and Safety binder requirements, including daily and weekly sign-off logs.
  • Conduct periodic water temperature checks and recordings.
  • Conduct periodic sprinkler system pressure/water level recordings.
  • Assist with new equipment installations and facility upgrades, if necessary.
  • Perform emergency repairs to prevent and resolve health and safety issues.
  • Ensure all work is completed in a timely manner, limiting disturbance to programming and staff, and meeting company standards.
  • During inclement weather, ensure facility walkways, entrances, grounds are clear and safely passable.
  • Prioritize and complete tasks by importance of health and safety compliance standards.
  • Display basic knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge in the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building.
  • Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on all types of equipment, plumbing (e.g., plunge toilets and unclog drains), electrical components including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, and other patient room items.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What Makes You a Great Fit
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two (2) plus years of experience in facilities maintenance.
  • Current Boilers License in state where facilities are located.
  • Pool Operators License in state where facilities are located.

Compenstation is $22.82-$31.95 per hour based on education and experience.
