About the Position

The Facility Technician is an entry-level position that conducts proactive/reactive maintenance on buildings, building systems and/or vehicles. This position's work will vary from day-to-day and may include, but is not limited to conducting routine maintenance on HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems, hydraulic systems, compressed air systems, portable/test/wastewater systems, vehicle oil/filter changes, brake replacement, etc.

• The incumbent may also assemble, rework, install, service mechanical/electrical components and systems.
• He/She may operate various pieces of heavy equipment.
• This individual is required to determine the cause of technical problems - Utilizing prints/technical manuals, critical thinking skills and the input of experts.
• In addition, this role may also be required to maintain appropriate spare parts inventories and create/process purchase orders (POs) and invoices.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct preventive/predictive maintenance (includes scheduled routine maintenance to prevent or avoid unexpected/reactive maintenance). Examples include, but are not limited to automotive oil changes, brake replacements, vehicle alignments, vehicle or building air filter replacement, routine test equipment lubrication, well/pump monitoring, water system monitoring, test surface maintenance using heavy equipment, etc.
• Reactive maintenance and repair – Working to address unexpected system impairment or damage. Examples include, but are not limited to water line repair/replacement, HVAC troubleshooting/repair, building repair, car/truck/semi/farm tractor/lawn mower troubleshooting/repair, test surface repair using heavy equipment, road repair, plumbing troubleshooting/repair, pump and well troubleshooting/repair, electrical system troubleshooting/repair, etc. Be a knowledge resource for less experienced team members and support their training/development.
• Learn/Comply with all health, safety, environmental (HSE) policies and other applicable Proving Grounds and company policies/procedures. Follow all safety rules/practices. Have a valid driver's license. May be involved in safety committees or initiatives. Perform other functions/duties as assigned. Must exhibit a professional, neat and clean appearance and be customer service oriented.

Required Education and Experience
• High School diploma or GED required.

• Associates degree in STEM related field and/or professional certification desired.

• 1+ years of experience working in a maintenance role.
• Experience with maintenance of buildings, building systems and/or motorized vehicle maintenance/repair.
• Experience with well water systems, desired.

• Knowledge/skill in trade such as HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Heavy Equipment, etc.
• Basic computer skills (including Microsoft Word and Excel).
