Overview:

This entry-level position requires basic knowledge of boiler, HVAC, refrigeration, control system maintenance and operation, plumbing, electricity, carpentry, and painting. Attending one or two years of trade school is recommended for advancement. The Facility Systems Technician I will learn operations for HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical systems, safety procedures, and equipment regulations. This role supports small to mid-size hospitals, clinics, and outpatient facilities, ensuring safe working environments and supporting Mercy’s Environment of Care.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: Entry level with a preference for 1+ years in commercial HVAC, boilers, or refrigeration.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; 2+ years of technical/vocational training preferred.
  • Certifications: Valid driver’s license; Class C Tank Operator Certification (within 90 days); EPA Universal Certification (within 12 months); Fire door maintenance training.
  • Skills: Strong communication, technical reading, mathematical, and spatial skills; computer proficiency; manual dexterity; mechanical aptitude; customer service orientation. Must pass competency exams before advancing.
