Job summary

Sensei Ag is seeking a Facility Support Lead to oversee hands-on maintenance and operations for our R&D greenhouse in Somis, CA. The role covers plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general upkeep while coordinating with engineering, purchasing, and safety teams to ensure uptime for trials and tests.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in facilities maintenance, greenhouse experience a plus, and a proven ability to manage projects and vendors.

Qualifications

• Some post HS trade school or equivalent required, BA/BS a plus.
• Min. 8 years’ experience in a facilities maintenance role with demonstrated ability to work with limited direction and oversight
• Experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment, agriculture related field a strong plus
• Experience with preventive maintenance, work-order systems, equipment troubleshooting, vendors, contractors, and facility projects
• Experience with basic plumbing and electrical repairs
• Experience in greenhouse operations, including control system operations, a plus.
• Experience managing complex projects
• Resourceful and creative problem solver with extensive handyman skills
• Self-motivated with an eye for detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to navigate in a matrix organization and coordinate across cross-functional teams
• Proficiency with basic computer systems including email, and MS Suite, and the proven ability to learn new systems and technologies
• Ability to work nights and weekends on call as needed
• Ability to work in greenhouse, production, warehouse, laboratory, office, and outdoor areas with variable temperature, humidity, noise, light, and exposure to water, soil, plant material, and approved agricultural inputs.

Responsibilities

• Hands on maintenance and repair including: plumbing, electrical, lighting, painting etc. for buildings, vehicles and machine/greenhouse grow systems
• Outdoor upkeep including but not limited to: sprinkler repair, external building maintenance, AC systems monitoring and maintenance, outdoor storage maintenance
• Source and coordinate equipment vendors, contractors, service providers as needed
• Coordinate activities with internal engineering teams for repairs, construction, commissioning, upgrades, and technical troubleshooting
• Maintain facility cleanliness, sanitation, biosecurity, environmental integrity, and readiness for trials, tours, audits, and operational activities
• Implement and maintain a preventive maintenance and work-order program, including asset records, inspection schedules, critical spare-parts inventory, repair prioritization, and closure tracking
• Support purchasing and keeping supplies ready in advance of activities on site including office supplies and equipment
• Support shipping and receiving, inventory control, material handling, visitor and contractor coordination, and other site activities as operational needs require
• Work with Corp Safety leader in support of facility safety activities

Position Description

The Facility Support Lead is the hands on go to person for all things in support of our facility R&D Greenhouse in Somis, CA. The selected candidate will take on projects big and small, technical and non-technical in support of the daily operational needs. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic facility where multiple cross-functional teams are working together to test various new hardware and robotic technologies, growing systems and crops. This role will be accountable for the safety, maintenance and organization of the facility to enable these activities. This is a 5 day per week on location position.
