Job summary

NKI is seeking a Security Officer to ensure safety and order at our NY facility. You will monitor surveillance systems, respond to emergencies, and maintain a secure front desk presence while coordinating with staff during shifts.

Ideal candidates are 18+, hold NY Peace Officer Certification, and can meet physical requirements. A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle access are required, with flexibility to cover overtime shifts and site visits as needed.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Possession of New York State Peace Officer Certification (a 7-week peace officer academy in upstate NY).
• Ability to perform physical job responsibilities.
• Must have access to a vehicle and valid, unrestricted driver's license upon hire and continuously thereafter.
• Schedule flexibility to permit as needed site visits to NKI to cover various overtime shifts with advance notice.

Background Investigation/Justice Center Review Requirements

Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment. 2) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
