Job description

About Lumbra

Lumbra builds the vendor‑neutral operating system for agentic AI in high‑consequence environments. In our first ten months we won four fully competed prime contracts across the U.S. Government, every one of them deploying into classified spaces. We are live on JWICS. We were selected from a field of 200+ companies for a defense innovation challenge and won it. We beat two established defense primes on the same program and earned the follow‑on, now in execution. Our team comes from the CIA unit that planned the bin Laden mission, MIT, frontier AI labs, and Special Operations.

About the Role

Lumbra is in customer SCIFs today and will be in our own accredited space tomorrow. We need a Facility Security Officer to build and lead the industrial security program from this foundation forward: own DCSA interface today, scale the program through rapid growth, and lead the design and accreditation of Lumbra’s first SCIF.

You are the reason Lumbra can be in the room.

This role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph.

What You’ll Own
  • Serve as Lumbra’s primary interface with DCSA and customer security stakeholders, owning NISPOM compliance, self‑inspections, audits, and the relationships that keep programs moving.

  • Administer the personnel security lifecycle: DISS, NISS, eQIP, clearance processing, crossovers, visit requests, indoctrinations, debriefings — scaling each as headcount grows.

  • Manage classified contract security: DD254 review, contract‑specific security plans, and the operational requirements flowing from each program’s classification guide.

  • Stand up and run Lumbra’s Insider Threat Program and Security Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA) program, built for a company that will look very different a year from now than it does today.

  • Lead the design, construction, and ICD 705 accreditation of Lumbra’s first SCIF, from concept through sustained operations.

  • Build with the judgment to scale: procedures that work at 30 people and still work at 150, making compliance a feature of how Lumbra operates rather than friction against it.

You’ll Work Alongside

CIA officers, MIT engineers, Special Operations combat vets, and applied AI engineers from frontier labs like Anthropic and Google. You’ll make decisions that immediately affect national security. You’ll own part of a company early and when it matters.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience standing up an industrial security program in a startup or small‑business environment

  • Prior SCIF design, construction, and ICD 705 accreditation experience

  • Background as a CPSO supporting SCI or SAP programs

  • Experience operating across multiple customer security regimes (IC, DoD, civilian) simultaneously

  • Familiarity with classified IT security, cross‑domain solutions, or COMSEC custodianship

Must‑haves
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph

  • U.S. citizenship

  • 5+ years as an FSO or Assistant FSO supporting DoD and/or Intelligence Community programs

  • FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities (CDSE) certification or ability to obtain within 90 days

  • Working knowledge of NISPOM, ICDs (including ICD 705), and DCSA compliance

  • Proficiency with DISS, NISS, eQIP and associated personnel security systems

  • Based in the National Capital Region

Benefits
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans

  • Premiums 100% covered by Lumbra for all employees

  • Exceptionally low premiums for spouses and dependents

  • Basic life insurance and disability 100% covered for all employees by Lumbra

  • Option to purchase additional life insurance available

  • Take the time off that you need, when you need it' paid time off, not accrual based

  • Generous company holiday calendar including a holiday shutdown in December

  • Supportive leave of absence program including time off for military service, medical events, and parental leave

  • Full 401(k) retirement plan for all full‑time eligible employees

  • Company‑funded commuter benefits

  • Free access to on‑site gym at office
