Job summary

Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance is seeking a Facility Privileging Specialist to manage and coordinate the privileging process for about 200 providers across hospitals and ASCs. The role ensures active surgical privileges and seamless provider onboarding while maintaining compliance with accrediting standards.

You will serve as the primary liaison with medical staff offices at 50+ facilities, track timelines, prepare documentation, and provide leadership with regular updates and risk reports.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in medical staff services, privileging, or credentialing.
  • Experience coordinating privileging across multiple hospitals and ASCs.
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission, AAAHC, and CMS standards for privileging.
  • Proficiency with credentialing/privileging database systems and MS Office.
  • CPCS or CPMSM certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the privileging and re-privileging process for approximately 200 providers across multiple hospitals and ASCs.
  • Serves as the primary liaison with medical staff offices and credentialing departments at 50+ facilities.
  • Ensures all required documentation (applications, verifications, CME, licenses, board certifications, malpractice history) is complete and submitted on time.
  • Tracks privileging timelines and expirables to prevent gaps in facility privileges.
  • Provides real-time updates to providers and leadership regarding privileging status and potential risks.
  • Escalates concerns promptly when a provider's surgical privileges are at risk of suspension, restriction, or termination.
  • Coordinates with compliance and operations leadership to resolve deficiencies or discrepancies.
  • Maintains a centralized privileging database for all TOA providers, ensuring accuracy and audit readiness.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with medical staff offices, supporting smooth provider onboarding.
  • Provides reporting and dashboards for leadership regarding privileging status, expirables, and risk indicators.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the medical staff services and credentialing functions.

This role oversees initial privileging and re-privileging for approximately 200 providers across hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs). The Facility Privileging Specialist ensures compliance with facility‑specific requirements, supports providers through medical staff credentialing processes, and serves as the primary liaison with over 50 hospitals and ASCs. This position carries direct accountability for ensuring providers maintain active surgical privileges and avoiding disruptions in patient care.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred not required.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in medical staff services, privileging, or credentialing required. Experience coordinating privileging across multiple hospitals and ASCs strongly preferred. Familiarity with Joint Commission, AAAHC, and CMS standards for privileging.

Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of facility privileging processes and requirements. Exceptional organizational and time management skills to manage 200+ providers across 50+ facilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to interact effectively with physicians and facility medical staff offices. Proficiency in credentialing/privileging database systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work independently and handle sensitive compliance matters with discretion.

Certification: CPCS or CPMSM preferred.
