Job summary

The Nevada Department of Corrections is seeking a Facility Supervisor 3 at Southern Desert Correctional Center. The role oversees maintenance, repairs, custodial work, security functions, fleet maintenance, with budgeting and capital improvements within facilities.

You will train, supervise and evaluate staff while coordinating with management to ensure efficient operations in a demanding state facility environment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of building and facilities maintenance or construction experience, including project planning, preparation of cost estimates and budgets.
• Two years of the experience must have included supervision of skilled trades workers and semi-skilled workers; OR one year of experience as a Facility Supervisor II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Plan, schedule, assign and participate in skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair or modification of buildings, equipment and grounds; inspect facilities and identify deficiencies in structures, fixtures, adjacent landscapes and heating, electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration systems.
• Plan, schedule, assign and participate in supervising capital improvements at assigned facilities, including estimating material and supply costs for scheduled maintenance and construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, assign and participate in skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair or modification of buildings, equipment and grounds.
• Inspect facilities to identify deficiencies in structures, fixtures, adjacent landscapes and heating, electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration systems.
• Estimate material and supply costs for scheduled maintenance and construction projects such as remodeling office space and rerouting power sources.
• Contact outside contractors and commercial vendors for estimates to develop budget projections and ensure projects stay within budget constraints.
• Train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; schedule, assign and review work.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
• Coordinate and monitor contracted maintenance services and direct contractors performing major repairs, alterations and construction.
