Job summary

Clean Harbors is seeking a Facility Operations Supervisor to oversee plant personnel and operations, including distillation equipment operation and tanker/railcar sampling/offloading. Shift: 2nd 3pm-11pm (Mon-Fri).

Responsibilities include ensuring health and safety, supervising multiple operators, and enforcing SOPs and permit compliance. The role requires strong leadership, communication, and operational improvement skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years supervisory experience in Shipping and Receiving.
• Experience managing larger teams preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to streamline and improve processes.
• Works well under pressure and adaptable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Proficient in Windows-based applications.
• Knowledge of scanning applications and SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority by following safe work practices.
• Perform plant operations including drum pumping, tank transfers, loading/offloading.
• Supervise multiple operators and load/unload staff.
• Enforce SOPs and hold employees accountable.
• Ensure area permits and safety standards are understood and followed.
• Work under the Plant Operations Manager or equivalent.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Facility Operations Supervisor will be responsible for the supervision of plant personnel and operations, such as operation of distillation equipment, product mixing/blending, sampling/loading/offloading tanker trucks and rail cars.

Shift: 2nd 3pm-11pm (Mon-Fri)

Responsibilities

• Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
• Performs multiple site-specific plant operations, including, but not limited to, drum pumping, tank transfers, tanker truck and rail car sampling/offloading/loading in compliance with DOT requirements, operation of distillation equipment and scanning applications for waste tracking;
• Supervises multiple Solvent Process Operators and Tanker Truck /Rail Car Loaders/Unloaders and plant operations;
• Ensures that employees follow and maintain all applicable Health and Safety Standard Operating Procedures, holds employee’s accountable;
• Ensures that supervised operations/employees understand and have ownership for area specific permit required compliance standards;
• Works under the direction of the Plant Operations Manager or equivalent;
• Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment;
• Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business.

• Able to review all applicable standard operating procedures (SOP’s) annually and score satisfactorily on quizzes.
• Proficiency in Windows based applications.
• Knowledge of scanning applications, EOM scanning SOP’s, VPI / Pick sheets
• Proficiency in multiple site-specific plant operations. It is not a desk job on the floor with the guys.
