Job summary

NYS Department of Environmental Conservation in Pulaski, NY is seeking staff to assist with daily facility operations at the Law Enforcement Training Academy and the EVOC Center in Fulton. You will help operate and maintain DEC facilities including buildings, wildlife areas, fishing access sites, and forests, and safely use power tools and equipment.

Applicants must have one year of related experience or two years in custodial or maintenance roles, and a NYS driver's license.

• One year as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 or two years of verifiable related experience.
• Must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the vehicle.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds; operate light and heavy equipment safely.

Assist with day to day facility operations at NYS DEC Law Enforcement Training Academy in Pulaski, and EVOC training Center in Fulton NY.

Assist with the operation and maintenance of DEC facilities, including buildings, wildlife management areas, fishing access sites, and state forests. Must be able to operate light and heavy equipment and power tools safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

One year as a Facility Operations Assistant 1; OR, two years of full-time, verifiable experience in custodial, grounds, or maintenance operation or assisting in a journey-level trade. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.

Additional Comments

• This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 3/31/2027. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.
• Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
• Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required.
• Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
• Must be able to work in remote areas.
• Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Travel may be required.
• Overtime may be required.
• Weekends and holidays may be required.
• Must be available for emergency response.
• Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies.
• Must be able to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds.
