Job summary

The New York State Office of General Services is seeking custodial staff to clean buildings and restrooms, restock supplies, and move furniture as required. The role involves using ladders and various equipment to maintain floors, fixtures, and surfaces in multiple facilities.

Shifts are Monday–Friday with varying hours. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and operate standard custodial tools; English reading and comprehension are preferred, and a NYS driver’s

Responsibilities

• Clean buildings, facilities, including restrooms, and restock supplies.
• Move furniture and equipment as part of custodial functions.
• Replace light bulbs; wash and dust fixtures, furnishings, floors, and partitions using appropriate supplies and equipment; climb ladders or scaffolding as needed.
• Pick up and remove hazardous articles from floors and equipment and place them in designated receptacles.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Note

Operating Needs

• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, platforms and boom lifts.
• Ability to operate small equipment including lawnmowers, snow blowers, weed eaters, floor buffers, vacuums, etc.

Shift: Monday-Friday, Various.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants must be able to read, speak, and understand English, and must possess a valid New York State motor vehicle operator’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
