Upstate is seeking a hands-on Maintenance/Grounds worker to support plant operations and seasonal snow removal in Syracuse, NY. You will perform a wide range of manual tasks, maintain grounds, plant and transplant seedlings, and assist skilled trades as needed.

This role requires physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather. Responsibilities include routine grounds care, equipment operation, and winter plowing tasks when conditions require.

Formación

• Valid NYS driver’s license required.
• Able to lift up to 100 pounds and perform heavy lifting.
• Commercial snow plowing experience preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Perform routine manual grounds maintenance including sweeping, raking, shoveling, and debris removal.
• Plant seeds, bushes, and seedlings; maintain and prune landscape as directed.
• Snow removal duties using trucks, snow blowers, and plows; apply salt and sand to roads and parking lots.

Job Summary:

This position will report to the Plant Operations Supervisor. Will perform a variety of routine manual tasks requiring little planning or special knowledge, and sustains medium to heavy physical effort involving frequent exposure to all kinds of weather conditions. Duties include, but are not limited to; Cleans grounds by sweeping, raking, shoveling and removing by hand debris, leaves, branch's, etc., clears sites and prepares them for planting; plants seeds, bushes, etc. using hand and power tools; cuts grass, fertilizes and waters grounds, prunes, removes bushes and trees; loads/ unloads trucks, breaks up concrete and asphalt to repair holes; assist in mixing and applying concrete and asphalt, removes trash and snow from roads and walkways; plows roads and parking lots and mixes salt and sand used on them; snow removal using trucks, tractors, bobcats, loaders, walk behind snow blower and shovels; operate a truck mounted salt spreader; cuts glass, adjusts and paints window panes; oils ventilating mechanisms; cleans, flushes, and repairs gutters and drains; repairs bench flats; sterilizes pots and mixing soils used for planting; plants and transplants seedlings; must be able to perform moderate to heavy lifting; move furniture and office equipment and follows instructions when transporting equipment; Must be able to assist skilled and semi-skilled trades in various tasks; must have the ability to use various hand/ power tools and motorized equipment; have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, Must demonstrate work experience in commercial snow removal. Understand and follow instructions. Ability to lift 100 pounds. Ability to use hand and power tools. Ability to use motorized equipment (skid steer, snow blower, plow, salt spreader). Commercial Plowing Experience Preferred.Will be required to be on-call as weather conditions necessitate. Must be available for immediate recall and prepared to return to CG within 1 hour. Must possess a valid NYS driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess a valid NYS driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Commercial snow plowing experience preferred.

Work Days:

Schedule based on 40 hour work week. Monday-Friday 7am-3:300pm with rotating shifts during winter months
