Job Summary:
The Facility Manager for Maggie Daley Park will oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and overall functionality of the park's various facilities and recreational spaces. This role requires a hands-on approach to ensure the park’s amenities are well-maintained, safe, and accessible to the public while maintaining a high standard of service. The Facility Manager will work closely with park staff, vendors, and city officials to enhance the visitor experience, address facility needs, and ensure the park operates efficiently. The Facility Manager will also be responsible for driving the continuous development of programs, services, and amenities to enhance the space’s value and accessibility to the community.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Oversee daily operations and maintenance of park facilities, including the Ice-Skating Ribbon, Play Garden, event spaces, restrooms, and other park amenities.
Implement and oversee different indoor and outdoor events to bring amazing experiences to Maggie Daley Park such as a winter festival lights, light up electric cars, and festivals or amusements games and rides.
Work with Operations Manager to coordinate regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs to ensure facilities are safe, clean, and functional.
Manage Park equipment and assets, ensuring they are maintained and functioning properly.
Recruit, interview, and train qualified part-time staff to support park operations and programming.
Process payroll for all part-time team members, including staff assigned to Maggie Daley Park and East Lake operations, ensuring accuracy and timely submission in compliance with organizational and city payroll policies.
Supervise and schedule facility maintenance staff, including groundskeepers, custodians, and other facility team members.
Provide training and development opportunities for staff to ensure high levels of performance and professionalism.
Monitor and control expenses related to facility operations and maintenance.
Ensure all park facilities comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.
Develop and implement safety protocols for all areas of the park.
Respond promptly to emergencies, coordinating repairs and communicating with relevant authorities when necessary.
Oversee contracts with external vendors and service providers, ensuring timely and quality delivery of services such as landscaping, janitorial, and facility repairs.
Evaluate vendor performance and make recommendations for improvements or contract adjustments as needed.
Provide excellent customer service to park visitors, addressing inquiries, concerns, and complaints related to park facilities.
Ensure that the park’s amenities are accessible, clean, and welcoming to all visitors.
Collaborate with Event Coordinator and Operations Manager to ensure that park facilities are prepared for scheduled events, including setup, cleanup, and post-event maintenance.
Ensure that special events do not disrupt daily park operations while maintaining a safe and enjoyable atmosphere.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
Provide regular reports to the Director of Recreational Facilities regarding the condition of facilities, staffing needs, and any operational issues.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Parks and Recreation, Public Administration, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in facility management, preferably in a park or public space setting.
Experience with budgeting, staff management, and vendor relations is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, visitors, and vendors.
Proficiency in facility management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic maintenance systems.
Ability to solve problems quickly and make sound decisions under pressure.
Knowledge of safety standards and regulations relevant to park facilities.
Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
Ability to work weekend, evenings, mornings, and holidays.
Salary Range: $70,000-$85,000
