5C Data Centers is seeking an experienced Facility Manager to oversee day-to-day operations, reliability, and performance of critical electrical, mechanical, and building systems in a high-density data center.

You will lead a team of engineers to ensure 24/7 uptime for GPU/AI environments, manage maintenance, safety, budgets, vendor relations, and compliance. Join a team focused on operational excellence in digital infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of data center or critical facilities operations experience.
  • Proven track record supervising technical teams in mission-critical environments.
  • Strong knowledge of UPS, generators, switchgear, cooling, controls, and fire/life-safety systems.
  • Experience managing maintenance programs, incidents, and vendor relationships.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and decision-making skills.

Role Summary

The Facility Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, reliability, and performance of all critical electrical, mechanical, and building systems within the data center.

You will lead a team of Chief Engineers, Lead Engineers, and CFM I–III professionals to ensure 24/7 uptime for high-density GPU and AI environments.

This role combines technical oversight, operational leadership, vendor and budget coordination, and strict adherence to safety and compliance standards.

You ensure operational excellence, readiness, and reliability across the entire facility.

What You Will Do
Operational Leadership
  • Oversee daily facility operations, ensuring reliable performance across all mechanical, electrical, and controls infrastructure.
  • Partner closely with the Chief Engineer to support technical decision-making, escalations, and incident response.
  • Ensure shift teams follow established procedures, maintain accurate documentation, and uphold safety and quality standards.

Maintain operational readiness and enforce best practices for critical environments.

Team Management & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Chief Engineers, Lead Engineers, and CFM I–III staff.
  • Support scheduling, shift coverage planning, and team prioritization.
  • Conduct performance reviews, skill assessments, and training plans in partnership with HR.
  • Foster a high-performance, safety-first culture within the facilities team.
Critical Infrastructure Oversight
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of:
  • UPS, PDU, RPP, battery systems
  • Chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC
  • BMS, EPMS, SCADA, fire-life-safety systems
  • Ensure accurate monitoring, trending, and reporting of system performance.
Maintenance Planning & Execution
  • Own and manage the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program for all critical systems.
  • Approve MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs, ensuring risk mitigation and operational accuracy.
  • Coordinate and schedule corrective maintenance, break/fix work, and high-risk activities.
  • Ensure all maintenance is performed safely and in accordance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
Incident Response & Root-Cause Analysis
  • Lead incident management for facility-related issues and partner with the Chief Engineer for technical triage.
  • Oversee root-cause analysis (RCA) documentation and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Report operational impacts and risks to senior leadership with clear communication.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and contractors performing maintenance, repairs, or expansions.
  • Ensure vendor compliance with safety requirements, SOWs, and service-level agreements.
  • Validate contractor work, documentation, and commissioning results.
Budget, Procurement & Asset Management
  • Oversee facility operational budgets, purchase requests, and cost-control initiatives.
  • Maintain inventories for spare parts, consumables, tools, and equipment.
  • Support lifecycle planning, equipment replacement forecasting, and capital project planning.
Compliance, Audits & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NEC, EPA, ASHRAE, and internal safety standards.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for audits (ISO, SOC2, regulatory, insurance).
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation across logs, reports, procedures, and as-built drawings.
  • Lead site safety practices including LOTO, PPE usage, and safety training.
What You Bring
  • 7–10+ years of experience in data centers, critical facilities, or industrial mechanical/electrical operations.
  • Proven track record supervising or leading technical teams within a mission-critical environment
  • In-depth knowledge of UPS systems, generators, switchgear, cooling systems, controls, and fire/life-safety systems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex maintenance programs and high-risk procedures.
  • Strong incident management and escalation experience, with a calm, solutions-focused approach under pressure
  • Skilled in vendor management and contract oversight
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical one-lines, mechanical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control sequences
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and decision-making skills.
