Snohomish County’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Parks Division, is hiring a Facility Maintenance Worker II – Parks & Fair. This full-time, hands-on role is perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors and supporting their community. You’ll be part of a team that keeps our parks and the Evergreen State Fair Park safe, welcoming, and ready for the public. We are filling a current opening and creating an eligibility register for future opportunities. This position is dedicated primarily to athletic field maintenance, with most work focused on mowing and maintaining ballfields throughout the Parks system. The successful candidate should expect to spend most of each workday operating commercial mowing and grounds equipment, trimming field edges, monitoring turf conditions, and helping keep athletic fields safe, playable, and visually consistent. While this role is classified as a Facility Maintenance Worker II and may occasionally assist with other grounds, facility, or operational assignments, candidates should understand that routine ballfield mowing will be the central and ongoing responsibility of this position. We’re looking for someone who is hardworking, reliable, and committed to excellent customer service. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as much of this work happens in a public-facing environment. You should be comfortable working outdoors in all conditions and must hold a valid State of Washington Driver’s License. This position is full-time, scheduled for 40 hours per week, and may include overtime as outlined in the AFSCME Local 109 collective bargaining agreement. Job Duties
  • Performs all the job duties of a Facility Maintenance Worker I
  • Operates a variety of construction and maintenance equipment such as double axle trucks, forklifts, front-end loaders, large, and tractor-mounted mowing machines, and similar equipment. May operate backhoes, dozers, and dump trucks.
  • Operates equipment to load trucks, move materials, help maintain grounds and other areas.
  • Performs a variety of general maintenance activities, such as building and grounds tasks carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, mechanical, and maintenance skills, according to industry standards.
  • Repairs or replaces baseboard molding, ceiling and floor tile, doors, locks, and windows, patches leaking roofs, and similar work.
  • Hangs and/or repairs paneling, plasterboard, and other drywall materials; tapes, spackles, and sands drywall, and prepares it for painting.
  • Forms, pours, and finishes concrete as directed.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs a variety of plumbing fixtures, including faucets, flushometers, sinks, toilets, urinals, and water drain lines.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs a variety of electrical fixtures including, switches, outlets, and light fixtures.
  • Maintains a variety of stormwater systems including ditches, catch basins, culverts, and raingardens.
  • Supports the annual fair at the Evergreen State Fair Park, working days before, during, and after to support the event.
Statement Of Other Job Duties
  • May direct the work of temporary employees, work release inmates, and/or lower-level maintenance personnel as directed.
Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years’ experience performing a variety of semiskilled building and grounds maintenance or building construction work; OR any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. Must pass job-related tests.

Special Requirements
  • A valid Washington State Driver’s License is required for employment.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid First Aid/CPR card, within one year of employment
  • Specialized certification(s) may be required to be obtained and maintained for some positions. This may include, for example, pesticide applicator, CDL Class A, CESCL, backflow certification, and playground maintenance certification required license/certification to be identified by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Employment will be conditioned on satisfactory results of a post offer medical examination or inquiry.
  • A written and practical field test may be required.
