Job summary

The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office (OPSO) in New Orleans, LA seeks a General Maintenance Technician to maintain a clean, sanitized jail facility and support sanitation operations. The GMT reports to the Sanitation Manager and handles a wide range of cleaning and maintenance tasks inside and outside housing areas.

Responsibilities include cleaning, supply management, floor care, chemical handling, and coordination with kitchen staff, pest control and laundry support, with safety and compliance

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, bend and walk long distances.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all areas of the facility are clean and in good working order.
• Clean interlocks, hallways, restrooms and common areas as listed.
• Pass out water to pods and assist with laundry and supplies.
• Perform floor care, waste removal and supply management.
• Assist pest control and coordinate with kitchen staff as needed.
• Address biohazard cleanup and maintain chemical dispensers.
