Job summary

UDA is seeking a skilled maintenance technician for the Main Plant in Tempe, AZ. The role requires performing electrical, plumbing, carpentry, flooring, roofing, and general maintenance tasks to ensure facility operations run smoothly.

You will read and follow technical drawings, operate forklifts, and conduct preventive maintenance. A high school diploma and 2–4 years of building trades experience are required. This is a full-time, day-shift position in Tempe.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in skilled building trades.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience may meet minimum qualifications.
• Must read, hear, speak, and comprehend English.

Responsibilities

• Be organized and able to manage multiple projects.
• Decide based on mechanical and electrical principles with minimal supervision.
• Coordinate with team members and vendors for repairs or projects.
• Fix or replace faulty components to restore functionality.
• Read and use technical prints, schematics, and diagrams.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on buildings.
• Enter data into logs and databases.
• Respond to department calls and emergencies.
• Adhere to regulatory compliance and SOPs/HACCP.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills & Abilities:

• Electrical work includes troubleshooting, testing, replacing of equipment, outlets, switches, lights, and ballast.
• Flooring repairs. Grouting Sealing and replacement of various types of flooring. Dairy Brick, Concrete, Caster Coated, and varying types of other flooring.
• General carpentry and framing
• General Plumbing knowledge installs and repairs. Toilets, sinks, and drains.
• Roof repairs. TPO, Metal Deck, Foam, etc.
• Moving or Installation of furniture, fixtures, equipment.
• Caulking/sealing of various horizontal and vertical surfaces. Wall joints, crevices, alcoves, exterior to interior penetrations.
• Drywall/plaster repair and painting.
• Ability to operate equipment including a forklift, and various lifts.
• Must be able to work 8 hour shifts.
• Requires ability to read, hear, speak, and comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.

Experience:

• 2-4 years of experience in skilled building trades
• An equivalent combination of training and experience may be used to meet the minimum qualifications.

Education/Certifications:

• High School Diploma or Educational Equivalent.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Requires ability to walk and stand for 8 or more hours at a time.
• Requires ability to stoop, bend, reach, lift, climb ladders, stairs of various heights and carry items in excess of 55 pounds.
• Requires ability to stoop, bend, reach, lift and carry items often including items up to 55lbs.
• Requires ability to push and pull items frequently including items 150lbs.
• Requires ability to climb ladders and stairs of various heights including floors of 100ft or more.
• Requires ability to hear and speak and frequently hear and speak in very noisy environments.
• Requires ability to work in varying extreme hot, cold, and wet temperatures and conditions.
• Requires ability to work in confined spaces frequently.
• Requires the ability to visually observe the condition of surroundings.
• Requires ability to work safely with hazardous chemicals.
• Requires ability to walk entire facility multiple times for each shift.
• Ability to drive and operate a forklift and like equipment.

• Be able to comprehend and utilize technical prints, schematics, and diagrams.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on various buildings
• Enter operation and maintenance data into logs, reports and computer databases.
• Respond to Department calls and emergency call-ins
• Adhere to all municipal, state and federal regulatory compliance, reporting any nonconformity.
• Adhere to all SOP’s and HACCP guidelines.
• Adhere to all UDA quality, safety, and GMP policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity
• Other duties as required.
