Job summary

YMCA of Greater San Antonio seeks a Facility Maintenance Technician to perform routine maintenance, monitor HVAC and pool systems, and support building operations across multiple branches in the San Antonio area.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, reporting malfunctions, maintaining lighting and equipment, and documenting work in logs. Requires 2-3 years in facility management and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • General and routine maintenance duties including HVAC, pool maintenance, readings on gauges/meters.
  • Preventative maintenance scheduling and documentation.
  • Read and interpret manuals, procedures and safety documents.
  • Will travel between YMCA branches in the San Antonio area.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure facilities, grounds and equipment are operational and inspected per preventive schedules.
  • Identify and report malfunctions or emergencies.
  • Maintain lighting and fixtures; replace ballasts and repair as needed.
  • Record maintenance and repair logs daily.

Job description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development,healthylivingand social responsibility.The facility maintenance tech performsfacility maintenance as well as repair and preventative maintenance of building, equipment, facility and outside grounds for the YMCA Branch and other manual and semi-skilled work in one or more trades. Willbe responsible forstaying with budgeted labor supplies, equipment, and related services/ materialrequiredfor cost efficient operations. Must be able to provide a safe and clean environment for members, program participants, and staff. The role requires regular travel between multiple YMCA branches.

This position will receive a minimum of 3 weeks Paid-Time Off (pro-rated), Holiday Pay, Full-Time benefits to include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, a Retirement 403(b) pension plan upon eligibility and a Free YMCA Household Membership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Perform general, routine maintenance duties including monitor HVAC equipment, read gauges and meters, pool maintenance, backwashand filter change
  • Ensures all facilities, grounds and equipment are fully operational and inspectedin accordance withpreventative schedules.
  • Ensure the safe and proper functioning of equipment
  • Identifyand report malfunctions or emergencies
  • Responsible formaintainingexisting lighting, replacingballastsand repairing fixtures
  • Participate in preventative maintenance program
  • Record daily maintenance and repair logs
  • Collects information on cost estimates for facilities renovations, expansions, or space allocations and inspects completed work for conformance of specifications.
  • Assistskilled trades by performing semi-skilled tasks for the care and maintenance of buildings and grounds
  • Manages maintenance and upkeep of equipmentin regards towarranty, calibration service, or preventive maintenance agreements.
  • Interfaces with system contractors on utilities and maintenance todetermineneeds, developplansand resolve problems within the facility.
  • Advisessenior management of availability ofvarious itemsand cost of services needed tooperatethe facility.
  • Maintains the general day-to-day work life and appearance of the Recreational Facilities.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required; however, a Technical degree is highly preferred.
  • Must have 2-3 years of prior experience in facility management.
  • Requires knowledge in general and system preventive maintenance in the areas of service, security, mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, carpentry and grounds maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
  • Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
  • Child Abuse Prevention training and certifications required before the first shift. Safety and prevention trainings are also required to be completed on an annual basis.
  • Certifications required within the first 60 days of hire: YMCA approved basic life saving skills such as CPR, First Aid, AED.
  • Must be 21 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, and the ability to drive to other locations in the San Antonio and surrounding areas.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
  • Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.
  • Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
  • Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
  • Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi – reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
