Job summary

Met Council in Brooklyn seeks a Maintenance Worker to oversee cleaning, repairs, and preventive maintenance for the Brooklyn Hub. You will coordinate with staff and outside contractors to keep the facility safe and well‑maintained.

The role requires organization, reliability, and good communication; evening or weekend work may be needed. Proactive, hands-on problem solving and comfort with basic repairs are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to read and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee cleaning of common and office areas.
• Create maintenance schedules and checklists.
• Implement a preventive maintenance plan for the facility.
• Repair and maintain the building.
• Coordinate work with outside contractors.
• Maintain HVAC and alarm systems.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Assist in classroom organization and pantry stocking.
• Provide center coverage when assigned.
