Job summary

Fast Lane Transportation is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician in Los Angeles to perform basic maintenance, minor repairs, and equipment checks. You will communicate with yard staff via handheld devices and assist with yard upkeep and supply deliveries. The role requires awareness of safety standards and a valid driver license.

Typical shift times are 7:00 AM–4:30 PM with overtime. Candidates should be able to operate light machinery and lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class C Driver License.
• Minimum 2 years Class C driving experience.
• Ability to read work-related documents and diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing air filters, and sweeping.
• Communicates with yard and office personnel via handheld devices.
• Performs minor repairs to equipment or facilities and painting.
• Delivers supplies to various locations in the yard and satellite locations.
• Operates yard equipment to maintain surface quality.
• Reports safety and repair needs to the operations manager.

Job Overview

The facility maintenance technician will be responsible for a wide range of facilities maintenance activities necessary for keeping the Fast Lane Transportation offices and yard clean, safe, and functional.

Responsibilities and Job Duties

• Performs basic maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing batteries in clocks, replacing air filters, sweeping, and trash pickup.
• Utilizes handheld electronic device (two-way radio and/or cell phone) to communicate with yard and office team personnel throughout the workday.
• Conducts minor repairs to equipment or facilities such as fixing minor plumbing leaks, troubleshooting basic electrical issues, and painting.
• Deliver supplies or materials to various locations throughout the yard and satellite locations.
• Assist with yard maintenance by operating water truck and/or grader to maintain quality of surface in yard.
• Performs equipment maintenance activities in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and ordering supplies needed for projects.
• Reports all safety and equipment repair needs to operations manager for referral to appropriate service provider or team.
• Follows all company policies, quality procedures and safety guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of electronic communication device operating procedures, e.g., two-way radio and cell phone texting.
• Knowledge of email communication processes and protocols.
• Knowledge of Company safety standards and procedures.
• Knowledge of handheld manual and electrical hand tools including use, maintenance, and repair.
• Ability to use basic hand tools when making repairs or adjustments.
• Ability to determine which tools are necessary to complete a task or project.
• Ability to identify and avoid potential obstacles and hazards within physical surroundings.

Qualifications

• Valid Class C Driver License
• A minimum 2 years Class C driving experience

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Physical Abilities

• Ability to work outside in environmental conditions that, at times, include extreme heat or extreme cold, dust, rain, mud, and wind.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. of force frequently.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally.
• Ability to use hand and finger manual dexterity to handle small objects.
• Ability work from heights.
• Ability to walk on uneven outside surfaces for long periods of time.
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, lift, grasp and climb.
• Ability to use arms, legs, abdominal and back muscles to support repetitive and continuous movements getting in and out of and operating vehicles and heavy machinery.

• 9 hour shift - 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM
• Day shift
• Overtime Required

Estimated Hourly Pay Range

$18.00 to $22.00 based on knowledge and experience.
