Job summary

Schleifring Medical Systems, LLC is seeking a dedicated Facility Maintenance Technician to maintain the building and production environment. You will handle plumbing, electrical, lighting, HVAC support, carpentry, and preventive maintenance of facility systems while aiding with CNC/gantry equipment maintenance.

Qualified candidates will have related education and at least 4 years of industrial maintenance experience, reading schematics, and using CMMS/work order systems.

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Facility Maintenance Technician

REPORTS TO: Plant Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

Pay Rate: $32.00 to $38.00 per hour based on experience

SUMMARY

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the facility, building systems, and production environment to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient operation. Primary responsibilities include general building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, lighting, HVAC support, painting, carpentry, and preventive maintenance of facility systems. This position will also assist with troubleshooting and maintaining manufacturing equipment, including CNC and gantry machinery, as needed. All work is performed in accordance with company safety policies, preventive maintenance programs, and operational objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform general facility maintenance including plumbing repairs, lighting replacement, painting, drywall repair, carpentry, and other building‑related repairs.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the facility and building systems to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
  • Assist with maintenance and minor troubleshooting of HVAC, compressed air, electrical, and other facility support systems.
  • Perform building‑related installations and modifications, including furniture assembly, shelving, office improvements, data/power installations, and facility upgrades.
  • Maintain facility grounds, work areas, and common spaces to ensure a safe and professional appearance.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and complete repairs in a timely manner.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on facility systems, equipment, and manufacturing machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and repair basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production equipment.
  • Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC, gantry, and other manufacturing equipment as needed.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, work orders, and maintenance instructions.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, electrical testing equipment, and material handling equipment safely and effectively.
  • Replace or repair defective components, test equipment, and verify proper operation.
  • Assist in developing and improving preventive maintenance procedures and schedules.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Work closely with production personnel, supervisors, and outside contractors to support operational needs.
  • Research replacement parts and assist with purchase requisitions.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
  • ?Associate degree, technical certification, vocational training, or equivalent work experience in facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, commercial, or facility maintenance environment.
  • Experience performing building maintenance including electrical, plumbing, HVAC support, carpentry, and general repairs.
  • Experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment, CNC machines, gantry systems, or automated equipment preferred.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and work order systems preferred.
Technical Skills
  • General building and facility maintenance experience, including plumbing, electrical, lighting, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general repairs.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance on facility and production equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, maintenance manuals, and work instructions.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems, CNC machinery, PLCs, and OEM controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or Heidenhain) preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety regulations, building codes, and maintenance best practices.
Reasoning Ability
  • Apply logical troubleshooting techniques to diagnose facility and equipment issues.
  • Identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Prioritize multiple maintenance requests while balancing production and facility needs.
  • Interpret written, verbal, diagrammatic, and technical instructions.
  • Make sound decisions while maintaining safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Work independently while recognizing when escalation or outside support is required.

Computer Skills
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and work order software.
  • Ability to maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Experience researching technical information, repair procedures, and replacement parts online.
  • Ability to navigate CNC machine interfaces and operator screens preferred.
  • Familiarity with PLC diagnostics and production equipment software preferred.
