SanMar is seeking a Facilities III, AutoStore Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair material handling equipment in a fast-paced distribution center in Ashland, VA. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, coordinating vendor activities, and ensuring safe, compliant operation.
Ideal candidates have 4–6 years in facility or conveyor maintenance, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Location: 10462 Hickory Hill Rd. Ashland, VA 23005
Shifts Available: Monday through Friday, 2:30pm - 11pm, and Sunday through Thursday, 10pm-6:30am
Pay Range: $23.50 - $30.30
This position includes a $3,000 sign on bonus
All candidates who meet the essential qualifications for the position will be considered for employment consistent with SanMar's policies and procedures.
Employee must be actively employed on the date of payout to receive the bonus.
Agency staffing is not eligible for bonus. If hired as direct employee of SanMar from an agency, employee is eligible for bonus.
For rehired employees: no sign on bonus provided if employee received any sign on payment in the 12 months immediately preceding their new date of hire.
The Facilities III, AutoStore Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing material handling equipment and building systems within a fast-paced distribution center environment. This position supports operational efficiency by performing preventive maintenance, coordinating vendor activities, responding to maintenance needs, and ensuring equipment operates safely and effectively. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
You’ll play a critical role in keeping our automated distribution operation running safely and efficiently. This position offers hands‑on work with advanced material handling technology, opportunities for skill development, and the chance to directly impact operational success.
DC Warehouse (Equipment): While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand,
walk, talk and hear. The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to 60 pounds. The employee operates powered
equipment requiring use of both hands as well as full range of motion of the neck, head and back. The
employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, grasp and perform repetitive hand, wrist and arm motions. The
employee is frequently required to climb stairs, kneel/squat, bend and carry. Specific vision abilities required by this
job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee may
be required to wear a headset covering one or both ears. Employee will be required to wear Personal protective
equipment such as a Protective harness while operating equipment. Basic English literacy is required for operation
of machines and necessary daily paperwork. Work environment is moderately noisy.
The employee is occasionally required to work near conveyor systems. There is exposure to dust and changes in weather conditions. Work is performed under typical warehouse conditions. Potential hazards exist with regard to machinery such as forklifts, pallet jacks, mechanized systems, etc. Work environment is hectic and fast-paced.The employee is regularly exposed to ambient lighting and can be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold including climates consistent with outside weather conditions.
