Job summary

UCAR’s NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center (NWSC) in Cheyenne, WY seeks a Facility Maintenance Technician to ensure round-the-clock operational excellence. You’ll perform upkeep, support licensed specialists, and manage logistics and safety in a high-demand data facility.

The role spans shift coverage, equipment operation, preventative maintenance, and entry of shipments into UCAR systems. On-site/rotations required; on-call duties apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least two years of large-scale facility maintenance experience.
• Valid Colorado or Wyoming driver’s license and driving record that complies with UCAR’s liability insurance requirements.
• Experience in data center/industrial environments; familiarity with safety practices.
• Ability to operate facility equipment and heavy machinery safely.
• Logistics experience is a plus.
• Flexible to cover day/swing shifts and on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Perform light structural maintenance and upkeep of the facility.
• Support licensed electrical and mechanical personnel on projects.
• Participate in scheduled on-call rotation and rotating shifts.
• Operate site machinery including snow plows, scissor lifts, skid steers, and trucks.
• Assist with preventative maintenance and general cleaning.
• Provide backup support for shipping/receiving and data entry into UCAR's receiving system.
• Maintain small engines, gas-powered equipment, and GSA vehicle verification.
