Job summary

UCAR is seeking aFacilities Maintenance Associate in Boulder to perform a broad range of groundskeeping, snow removal, and general maintenance tasks. The role includes after-hours on-call duties and collaboration with carpentry, electrical, and mechanical teams to maintain UCAR facilities.

Candidates should have at least 2 years in facilities or landscaping, a valid CO license, and ability to lift 50 lbs and work from scaffolds up to 40 ft. Regular on-site work with UCAR safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate required.
• A minimum of 2 years experience in a facilities maintenance program or commercial landscaping.
• Possession of a valid Colorado Driver's license and a driving record compliant with UCAR's liability insurance requirements.
• Skill and knowledge in commercial landscaping and/or snow removal.
• Skill and experience using hand tools, power tools, ladders, PPE, and other tools common in facilities maintenance work.
• Ability to work safely and produce craftsman-like results.
• Demonstrated skill in understanding and acting on verbal and written instructions.
• Able to carry 50 lbs. over 20 ft.
• Ability to work on scaffolds and lifts up to 40 ft.
• On-call during snow events and shift work as needed.
• Willingness to perform after-hours emergency work and coordinate with other trades.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment and perform lawn care tasks.
• Assist with snow removal and winter maintenance under supervision.
• Support carpentry, mechanical, electrical, and administrative duties as required.
• Record hours, materials used, and job progress; follow safety policies at all times.
• Coordinate with UCAR staff to address facilities infrastructure issues promptly.
