Job summary

Comparative Biosciences, INC is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician to perform general building maintenance, supervise contractors, and manage shipping/receiving. The role requires hands-on skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and basic HVAC, plus safety-minded operations.

You will ensure a clean, orderly building, oversee vendor visits, and coordinate repairs while maintaining compliance with building codes and safety standards. This position is on-site in Sunnyvale, CA.

Qualifications

• Must read and follow written manuals and SOPs.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication.
• Strong trade knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, and basic HVAC.
• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing and building codes.
• Experience with hand and power tools.
• Safety-oriented with good safety record.

Responsibilities

• Perform general facility maintenance and cleaning including janitorial duties.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Assess problems and repair equipment as needed.
• Coordinate vendor visits for maintenance.
• Monitor landscaping, common areas and parking facilities.
• Assist with conference room setups and employee relocations.
• Manage shipping and receiving and other related tasks.
• Work efficiently with minimal supervision.

Job description

Summary

Perform or arrange for general building and fixture repairs. Supervise outside contractors. Keep the building in a clean and orderly condition by examining the building on a regular basis for needed repairs, maintenance, and cleanliness including janitorial duties. In charge of shipping and receiving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform general facility maintenance and cleaning including janitorial duties
• Troubleshoot and perform repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
• Assess problems and repair equipment as able
• Manage and coordinate vendor visits for necessary maintenance
• Monitors landscaping, common area, and parking facilities
• Conducts the physical movement of furniture, equipment, and materials as needed for conference room set-ups, facility events, and employee relocation
• Propose solutions to address equipment issues, improve efficiencies, reduce cost, and address safety issues
• Shipping and receiving
• Performs other related work as required
• Work in an efficient and timely manner with minimal supervision

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• High School Diploma
• Must be able to read and follow written manuals and SOPs
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English are a must
• Possess a strong trade knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, and basic HVAC
• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and building codes
• Experience with use of hand tools and power tools
• Hazardous materials handling experience is desired
• Must have knowledge and experience with personal protective equipment related to chemical and electrical hazards
• Must be safety conscious and have excellent safety record
• Have good organizational skills
• Possess basic computer skills
• Ability to establish good working relationships with other departments
• Must have a valid CA Driver’s License with a good driving record (condition of employment)

Physical Demands

• Activities may require standing for extended periods.

Activities may require sitting and working at a task or computer for extended periods

Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Must be able to climb straight up vertical ladders and enter confined spaces

Work Environment

Work is predominantly performed on company site. Traveling by company vehicle or in a personal vehicle may be necessary often to run errands, accomplish training or business interests.
