Job summary

Doctors Hospital of Laredo, part of Universal Health Services, seeks a Biomedical Equipment Technician. The role performs evaluations, repairs, inspections and preventive maintenance on medical devices across assigned UHS facilities to ensure safe patient care.

PM/OVP on 15% of device types and unassisted repairs on another 15% are expected. This position emphasizes patient safety and high service standards within a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate/Equivalent – Minimum 0 - 1 Years of Related Experience
• Professional Certification – Minimum 1 - 3 Years of Related Experience
• Technical School/1 Year College – Minimum 3 - 5 Years of Related Experience
• Technical School/2 Years College / Associate's Degree – Minimum 5 - 8 Years of Related Experience
• Bachelor's Degree – Minimum 8 - 10 Years of Related Experience
• Master's Degree – Minimum 10+ Years of Related Experience

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, UHS HTM BMET performs evaluations, repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance of devices used in patient care at assigned UHS facilities.
• Can perform preventive maintenance (PM) or operational verification procedure (OVP) on 15% of device types in inventory.
• Can repair 15% of device types in inventory unassisted.
• Focuses on safety and the best patient experience, delivering exceptional service while meeting KPI requirements.

JOB SUMMARY:

• Under direct supervision, UHS HTM BMET performs: evaluations, repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance of devices used in the care and treatment of patients at assigned UHS facilities.
  • Can perform preventative maintenance (PM) or operational verification procedure (OVP) on 15% of the device types in inventory.

• Focuses performance to ensure the safest and best possible patient experience. Delivers exceptional service to all customers that meets or exceeds all regulatory requirements and compliance. Assists in developing and strengthening facility and vendor relationships. Meets all established key performance indicator (KPI) requirements.
