Job summary

U-Haul Toledo is seeking a Facility Maintenance Helper to assist in maintaining Moving Centers, Storage Centers, and other facilities within the region. The role involves using hand and power tools, performing installation, repair, painting, and general upkeep to support daily operations.

You will work with safety precautions, comply with local regulations, and participate in ongoing training. A high school diploma and a valid driver's license are required; driving may be part of duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Effectively work with hand/power tools.
• Perform general maintenance, installation, repair and service.
• Paint, nail, saw, and perform routine facility maintenance tasks.
• Clean-up duties at renovation sites and complete work requests promptly.
• Assist skilled workers when needed and participate in training through U-Haul University.

The Facility Maintenance Helper will assist in the facility maintenance of all U-Haul Moving Centers, Storage Centers and other U-Haul facilities within a geographical area.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Effectively work with a variety of hand/ power tools.
• Perform general maintenance, installation, repair and service.
• Perform work requiring nailing, sawing, cutting, painting and basic facility maintenance
• Perform clean-up duties at renovation sites.
• Complete work requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Assists skilled workers in the performance of all duties when necessary.
• Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University.

Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a good driving record to operate commercial motor vehicles
• Adhere to all local state (provincial) and federal vehicular regulations while driving.

Education/Training:

High school diploma or equivalent

Work Environment:

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts or machines, fumes or irritant chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves or shields.

Physical Demands:

The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities, and lifting a minimum of 50 lbs assisted or unassisted.
