Job summary

U-Haul International, Inc. is seeking a Facility Maintenance Helper to support maintenance across U-Haul Moving Centers, Storage Centers, and related facilities in a defined geographic area.

The role offers paid hands-on interviews, a $100 hiring bonus, and a $300 cash bonus after completing the Equipment Inspection and Verification through the 1-2-3 Punch Certification Program at retail stores. Primary duties include general maintenance, installation, repair, and service using hand and power

Qualifications

• Must have basic maintenance skills and ability to use common hand and power tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn on-the-job.
• Able to perform physical tasks and lift up to 50 lbs with/without assistance.

Responsibilities

• Effectively work with a variety of hand/power tools.
• Perform general maintenance, installation, repair and service.
• Perform work requiring nailing, sawing, cutting, painting and basic facility maintenance
• Perform clean-up duties at renovation sites.
• Complete work requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Assists skilled workers in the performance of all duties when necessary.
• Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University.

The Facility Maintenance Helper will assist in the facility maintenance of all U-Haul Moving Centers, Storage Centers and other U-Haul facilities within a geographical area.

Primary responsibilities include:

Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a good driving record to operate commercial motor vehicles
• Adhere to all local state (provincial) and federal vehicular regulations while driving.

Education/Training:

High school diploma or equivalent

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts or machines, fumes or irritant chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves or shields.

Physical Demands:

The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities, and lifting a minimum of 50 lbs assisted or unassisted.
