Job Summary

The Loudoun County Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants for a Facility Maintenance Crew Chief vacancy within Facility Maintenance Operations. This position involves working in areas such as Facilities Security, Facilities Safety & Surveillance, Public Safety, Specialty Units, Emergency Power, Preventive Maintenance, General Government, Parks & Recreation Facilities, or Libraries.

Candidates with a background in Facility Security, Safety, and Surveillance are of particular interest. The role involves supervising multiple crews in operating, maintaining, and repairing various facility systems, devices, and equipment in County buildings, including but not limited to:

  • Camera Systems
  • Fire Alarm Systems
  • Sprinkler Systems
  • Access Control Systems
  • Keying & Lock Hardware
  • Overhead Doors
  • Intrusion Systems
  • Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing Systems

Key duties include:

  1. Safely performing advanced, complex life safety and security work in installation, maintenance, and repair of systems, devices, and equipment.
  2. Knowledge of emergency power systems, HVAC, building automation, and related systems is highly valued.
  3. Reviewing work orders, establishing priorities, making daily work assignments, and scheduling preventive maintenance.
  4. Coordinating contractor work as needed.
  5. Conducting periodic mechanical systems inspections.
  6. Performing administrative duties, including submission of purchase documentation according to County guidelines.
  7. Providing superior customer service.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent with coursework or experience in MEP trades; four (4) years of related work experience installing and maintaining commercial mechanical systems, devices, and equipment, including at least two (2) years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with installing and maintaining commercial Life Safety and Security systems is highly preferred. Certifications in Access Controls, Fire Safety Systems, and Building Automation Systems are also preferred.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

The successful candidate will undergo pre-employment background checks, including criminal, credit, DMV records, and CJIS fingerprinting.

  • A valid driver's license and good driving record are required.
  • Hold or obtain a CFC License and Master's License in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing disciplines within six months of hire.
  • Subject to recall and/or extended hours as required.
  • Must respond to County emergencies (24/7) as directed.
  • This position is considered essential.
