Job summary

Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center is seeking a Facility Maintenance Assistant in Central Point, Oregon. The role supports a safe, clean, and comfortable space for staff and patients in a busy veterinary emergency hospital.

You will perform routine cleaning, deep cleaning of all rooms, and basic maintenance tasks. The position may be full or part-time with flexible shifts and is eligible for holiday pay and bonus programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Prior veterinary experience is not required, but highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, maintain, and ensure a safe, comfortable facility environment for staff and patients.
  • Perform routine and deep cleaning of rooms, offices, exam areas, bathrooms, lobbies, and hallways.
  • Identify safety hazards, report deficiencies, and assist with general maintenance tasks.

As a Facility Maintenance Assistant, your work ensures that equipment, spaces, and systems are functioning properly, directly contributing to a safe and efficient environment for delivering exceptional medical services.
Summary of Duties:
  • Responsible for routine cleaning, upkeep, and general maintenance of the facility to include:
    • Emergency & Urgent Care Buildings
    • Indoor and external environments, including pet walking areas
  • Completes various tasks related to the above areas to include, but limited to:
    • Weekly, monthly, and semi-annual frequency
    • Deep cleaning of all rooms and zones, including offices, exam rooms, bathrooms, lobbies, breakrooms, and hallways
    • Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, walls, doors, ceilings, vent, and windows
    • Stocking and distributing of janitorial and cleaning supplies
    • Sweeping & mopping, including the use of automated floor machines
    • Spot cleaning various locations as needed
  • Assists in identifying facility and equipment for safety hazards, reports deficiencies to management.
  • Fulfills other duties as expected of a Facility Maintenance Assistant.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Prior veterinary experience is not required, but highly desired.
Schedule:
  • Work schedule may be either full or part-time based on business conditions.
  • Shifts can be flexible but shall not exceed 12 hours per day.
  • Overtime is achieved for hours greater than 40 in any work week, defined as Sunday through Monday.
  • This position is exempt from differentials but is eligible for holiday pay and annual revenue bonus programs as defined by EVH.
Working and Physical Conditions:
  • Working conditions are normal for a veterinary emergency hospital.
  • The noise level is moderate to high and includes business machines, medical equipment, and patients barking/howling.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking, and frequent sitting, kneeling, and bending.
  • Potential exposure to infectious diseases, aggressive animals, and potentially toxic medication/treatment agents.
  • Equipment operation may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses and gloves and nitrile gloves, ladder, stepstool, etc.
  • Frequently lifting materials and inventory up to 40 lbs., independently.
