Job summary

Maersk Warehousing & Distribution Services USA LLC in Los Angeles seeks an experienced Director of Operations to oversee a high-volume distribution facility, driving efficiency, quality, and on-time performance. You will lead a team to ensure safe, compliant operations and optimize resource use.

You will manage a multi-site operation, partner with port management, and implement Lean initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve service levels in a dynamic logistics environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in logistics or related field.
• 7–15 years in fast-paced transportation and warehousing.
• Experience in a 3PL environment preferred.
• Experience with WMS/TMS/YMS systems.

Responsibilities

• Directs and oversees distribution facility operations for quality, safety, and productivity.
• Reviews reports and controls costs while driving continuous improvement.

Other duties may be assigned.Develops and maintains operations business plans, productivity and standards to include all customer/company requirements, labor hours, equipment, facility costs, and human resource decisions to enable organization to reach goals and focus on continuous improvementEnsures operational procedures are followed for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory currentReviews operating reports, identifies and directs the resolution of operational and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delaysResponsible for financial analysis and aggressive management of operational expenses; manages the facility P&LWork closely with port management to ensure smooth facilitation of drayage servicesPerforms administrative activities associated with the effective management of operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving data for reports, interfacing with other functional areas, and continuous communication with customersTrains and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulationsMonitors activities of work teams to ensure safe practices are in place and being followed at all retimes. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location.
