Job summary

Cabot Corporation Midland facility seeks a Facility General Manager to lead safe, reliable, and cost-effective production of hydrophilic fumed silica. You will set long-term site direction, ensure quality, financial performance, asset stewardship, and people development.

The role drives Lean Management, champions continuous improvement, and represents the site to employees, customers, regulators and the community. A technical degree and 7+ years of manufacturing leadership are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/University Degree, preferably in a technical discipline. 7+ years manufacturing experience, including prior people/budget management experience.
• Deep knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes, safety procedures, continuous improvement methods, environmental requirements, and site objectives.
• Ability to organize and manage diverse resources, including budgets, with strong analytical judgment.

The Facility General Manager is the senior site leader with overall responsibility for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective performance of the Midland manufacturing facility. This role provides overall leadership for the site, ensuring safe production, quality, financial performance, asset stewardship, people development, continuous improvement, and leading cross-functional alignment. Setting long-term overall direction required to ensure site capability and sustain operational excellence. The Midland, MI facility, built in 1999, manufactures hydrophilic fumed silica used in applications such as adhesives and sealants, chemical mechanical planarization, coatings, printing, and packaging. As the leader of this strategically important site, the FGM is expected to build organizational capability, advance Lean Management principles, and represent the facility with employees, customers, regulators, and the surrounding community.

How You Will Make an Impact:

• Lead the safe production of products that meet customer expectations for quality, quantity, reliability, and service
• Direct cross-functional site activities and ensure compliance with company and external requirements across Manufacturing, Sales, SH&E, Finance, Quality, HR, and Community Affairs
• Build a culture of continuous improvement that strengthens process capability, improves reliability, reduces variability, and minimizes off-quality material
• Ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective manufacturing performance for standard recipe products
• Ensure that the appropriate management of change process is followed
• Champion effective Human Resources processes - promote excellence in leadership, engagement, development, and workforce capability across the site
• Establish local initiatives that improve utilization of plant assets
• Protect the long-term integrity, reliability, and fitness for purpose of all facility assets
• Manage the capital budget effectively through disciplined use of the capital management system
• Plan and control departmental budgets and expenditures to achieve financial targets established through formal planning processes
• Lead community outreach through a facility plan that reflects Cabot’s commitment to being a responsible and trusted neighbor
• Support the implementation and maintenance of the Responsible Care Management System in alignment with RC14001 technical specification requirements applicable to the site or region
• Apply Performance Based Management by coaching and developing employees, direct reports, and matrixed team members while ensuring effective alignment with functional partners

Education/Experience
