Job summary

CoreCivic is seeking an Accountant to supervise accounting and commissary operations in a secure facility. The role includes preparing monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and ad hoc analyses to support operational decisions.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting and at least two years of accounting experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is expected, with Oracle/JD Edwards experience preferred. 21+ with a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or related field.
• Two years of accounting experience required; more acceptable in lieu of education.
• Working knowledge of accounting principles; proficiency with Word and Excel; Oracle/JD Edwards experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises accounting and commissary/warehouse staff handling financial data and transactions.
• Assists in preparing monthly facility financial statements and variance analysis.
• Prepares and reviews accounts payable, petty cash, and bank reconciliations; manages inmate funds.
• Supports ACA and contract audits and inventory verification for facility operations.
• Ensures proper safety and security through monitoring of access and personnel as needed.
