Job summary

The City of Overland Park is seeking a Facility/Events Attendant for the Arboretum in the Parks and Recreation Department. The role involves assisting patrons, monitoring activity areas, and supporting event setup and operations.

Responsibilities include room setup, equipment handling, and providing friendly customer service. Availability nights and weekends is required; the position supports extended hours and flexible scheduling as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 16 years of age.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assists in daily operation of Arboretum's LongHouse and supports supervisors to cover 7 day operations; schedule may be 8:00 AM to Midnight.
• Sets up and arranges rooms and event spaces; ensures cleanliness and proper preparation before and after meetings; distributes equipment and ensures return of equipment.
• Operates and maintains audio-visual and other event equipment; assists planning team in setup and delivery of Arboretum events.
• Delivers operational programming such as tours, garden operations guidance, greeter duties, café/gift shop sales as needed.
• Communicates with facility users, maintains customer relations, and responds to unexpected situations following policies and procedures.
• Must be punctual, meet deadlines, and be able to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
