The Jesuit Retreat Center has an immediate opening for a Facility Director. This position reports to the JRC Director and works in close collaboration with leadership team and other staff. The Jesuit Retreat Center, now in its 127th year annually welcomes over 5000 individuals and groups to this “place of peace” located on 57 verdant and wooded acres in Parma, OH. Approximately 75% of those who come to JRC do so as part of a hosted group, which rents our facility to offer their own programming. The remaining 25% come to JRC to participate in one of our many retreats and programs. Position Summary Oversee the physical plant and grounds of the Jesuit Retreat Center. Oversight of maintenance and housekeeping staff. Position reports to the JRC Director. Responsibilities and compensation to be reviewed or renewed annually. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week with occasional/rare weekend duties). Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 plus benefits. Primary Responsibilities: • Primary oversight of the physical plant (building and grounds) to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for employees and guests. • In consultation with the JRC Director, oversee the maintenance and housekeeping staff of the center. Provide weekly and daily job assignments to staff. • Train any new staff hires in general responsibilities as well as duties specific to their roles. • Inspect all buildings, grounds and equipment on a regular basis. • Establish and implement a preventive maintenance program for buildings, grounds, and mechanical systems. • Maintain and repair all building systems (mechanical, electrical, HVAC as needed). Utilize outside contractors as appropriate and needed. • Maintain and repair all outside power equipment. Maintain grounds as needed including grass cutting, tree trimming, leaf removal, and snow plowing. • Schedule maintenance and inspections with outside contractors and other agencies. • In conjunction with the JRC Director and the CFO/Business Manager, review the regular annual and seasonal maintenance plans for the building and grounds. • Recommend to the JRC Director and the CFO/Business Manager any needed purchases or projects for the immediate, short-term, and long-term needs of the center. • Serve as primary contact for vendors. Order supplies as needed. Housekeeping: • Plan and create a monthly calendar to schedule housekeeping staff. • Maintain housekeeping tools and equipment. • Order cleaning and housekeeping supplies as needed. • Assist housekeeping, as needed with changing beds, washing linens, vacuuming, restroom cleaning during changeovers.
Qualifications: • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Personal Qualifications: • Interpersonal, management, and leadership skills. • Short- and long-term planning skills. • Ability to develop budgets and manage expenses according to budget. • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks. • Customer service orientation. • A strong commitment to preventive maintenance. • Knowledge of mechanical systems (e.g. HVAC, plumbing, etc.), their maintenance, and efficient operations. Certifications preferred. • Willingness to share on-call availability 24/7. Preferred Experience: • Experience managing a plant including responsibility for mechanical systems. • Experience managing outside grounds and landscaping. • Experience establishing and/or implementing preventive maintenance plans. • Experience managing the repair and maintenance of mechanical systems. • Experience managing custodial activities or organizations, preferred. • Experience planning and managing construction and renovation projects. • Experience managing and supervising staff.
