Job summary

Elderhaus is seeking a dedicated Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at our Wilmington facility. You will perform daily cleaning tasks, restock supplies, and follow safety procedures to support operations and occupant well-being.

The role requires basic reading and math, the ability to handle repetitive motions, and reliable independent work. Previous custodial experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret basic documents and instructions.
• Basic math skills, including the ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
• Physical capability to perform repetitive motions and reach with hands and arms.
• Knowledge of safety rules and procedures related to janitorial work.
• Previous experience in janitorial or custodial duties is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing floors and surfaces.
• Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenishing supplies as needed to maintain hygiene standards.
• Follow safety rules and procedures to handle cleaning chemicals and equipment properly.
• Read and interpret work orders, schedules, and safety instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel promptly.
