Position Summary: This role involves interpreting clinical documentation, ensuring coding accuracy, and supporting quality assurance in inpatient facility coding. Requires recent inpatient coding experience, proficiency with DRG and PCS coding, and certification through AAPC or AHIMA. This is a remote position available in specified states, supporting Banner Health's mission of excellence and workplace happiness.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing medical records for accurate coding and documentation alignment.
  • Performing audits and providing feedback for improvement.
  • Ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.
  • Collaborating with clinical and billing teams to improve documentation and coding accuracy.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of coding updates and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or equivalent experience, 5 years of recent inpatient coding experience, and active certification (e.g., CCS, CIC, CPC, COC, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA). Must have thorough knowledge of ICD, DRG, CPT, and related coding principles.

Preferred Qualifications: Additional related education or experience.
