Position Overview

Seeking a motivated, experienced Outpatient | Acute Care | HIMS Complex Coder to join our talented Acute Care HIMS Coding Team. Candidates should have complex coding experience in acute care across various service lines, including General, Orthopedic, Urology/Gynecology, Cardiac, Spinal, and more. Must have ICD-10CM and ICD-10-PCS coding experience.

Responsibilities

1. Code diagnostic and procedural information accurately, including modifiers, in accordance with national guidelines and reimbursement requirements.
2. Abstract clinical diagnoses, procedure codes, and other pertinent information from patient encounters.
3. Ensure compliance with all coding rules, regulations, and guidelines from regulatory agencies and Banner policies.
4. Mentor less experienced staff and act as a subject matter expert for complex coding matters.
5. Work independently within defined rules, addressing complex coding issues and interpreting guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent, with specialized training in medical record keeping, anatomy, physiology, pathology, medical terminology, and coding principles.
• Certification such as CCS, COC, CPC, RHIT, RHIA, or equivalent, active with AHIMA or AAPC.
• Two or more years of outpatient complex experience in an acute care setting.
• Proficiency in ICD CM/PCS, CPT4 coding principles, and remote work capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience in large, multi-system healthcare organizations.

Additional Details

• Remote position available in specified states.
• Flexible hours between 7am – 7pm, Monday to Friday.
• Coding assessment post-interview within 48 hours.
• Position close date: 2025-09-09.
