Job summary

Stafford County is seeking a paraprofessional to open, close and monitor facility operations while supervising a range of recreational activities. This position works under regular supervision and contributes to safe, organized programs for all ages.

Duties include supervising activities, maintaining equipment and supplies, enforcing rules, and assisting with event setup and information for the public.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of community recreation work methods and rules for programs for children, youths or adults.
• Ability to instruct common recreational activities.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with others and the public.
• Ability to enforce rules and maintain discipline.

Responsibilities

• Prepare facilities for use and oversee facility operations.
• Open and close recreation facilities; set up supplies and equipment.
• Supervise and conduct a variety of recreational activities.
• Enforce standards of discipline and conduct by participants.
• Assist in organizing and preparing recreational activities.
• Maintain stores and inventories of equipment, materials and supplies.
• Provide information to the public regarding center activities.

Performs responsible paraprofessional work opening, closing and monitoring facility operations and assisting with and supervising recreational activities; does related work as required. Duties are performed under regular supervision.

The hiring range for this position is $15.71 per hour to $21.61 per hour based on experience.

The full salary range for this position is $15.71 per hour to $27.50 per hour to provide opportunity for growth and development.

• Preparing facilities for use; overseeing facility operations; serving as scorekeeper; monitoring activities and enforcing rules.
• Opens and closes recreation facilities;
• Sets up facilities, providing supplies and equipment;
• Supervises the conduct of a variety of recreational activities;
• Enforces standards of discipline and conduct by program participants;
• Assists in the organizing and preparation of recreational activities;
• Maintains stores and inventories recreation equipment, materials and supplies;
• Provides information to the public regarding center activities;
• Trash removal and general restroom upkeep;
• Performs related tasks as required.

• Some knowledge of the methods and practices of community recreation work including knowledge of the equipment and techniques, relevant rules and regulations of social, artistic, craft and/or athletic programs for children, youths or adults;
• Ability to instruct common recreational activities;
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with other workers, program participants and the general public;
• Ability to enforce rules and regulations and maintain discipline.
