Job summary

City of Wilmington, NC is seeking a Part-Time Facilities Specialist to work weekends. The role focuses on outdoor landscape maintenance, custodial tasks in parks, and trash removal to keep facilities welcoming for residents and visitors.

You will operate various hand and power tools, support special events, and assist with natural disaster cleanup. Required qualifications include the ability to read and follow simple instructions, a Class C Driver’s License, and basic computer literacy.

The city is looking for a Part Time Facilities Specialist to work weekends

This position performs a wide range of landscape maintenance tasks, completing custodial duties, and removing trash and debris to ensure a welcoming environment. This role also involves operating various hand and power tools commonly used in parks and landscape upkeep, as well as interacting with citizens and providing quality customer service. Additionally, the technician assists with preparing grounds for special events, supports cleanup efforts following natural disasters, and helps other departments as needed to ensure seamless operations across the City.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines. No experience is required.


• Class C Driver’s License.


• Ability to work before, during, and after emergencies and/or natural disasters.


• Basic computer literacy as necessitated for timekeeping, performance documentation and online training.
