Job summary

San Francisco SPCA is seeking a Building Engineering Technician to maintain and repair MEP systems, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and installations. You will collaborate with other technicians on various projects and ensure compliance with codes.

The role requires 16 hours per week (Fri/Sat) and reports to the Building Engineer. Prior experience in facilities maintenance across multiple trades is essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; ability to read and write English and perform basic math.
• Proven diagnostic, troubleshooting, and multi-trade repair skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on repairs across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry systems.
• Conduct routine inspections for safety, reliability, and code compliance.
• Support building renovations and emergency repair projects.
• Maintain life-safety systems and assist with security and disaster prep.
• Open/close campus and ensure doors remain secure during shifts.
