Job summary

The Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown, PA seeks a Facility Technician to perform ongoing maintenance on exhibits and facility systems, and to support setup and teardown for programs and special events. You will collaborate with Visitor Services, Operations, and Museum Experience staff to keep the facility operational and guest-ready.

Responsibilities include completing checklists, responding to maintenance requests, coordinating with custodial staff, and helping with landscaping and safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with one year of building/mechanical maintenance experience.
• Reasoning ability: follow simple instructions and solve problems with a few concrete variables.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence.
• Criminal background check required (state, federal, child abuse registry) and any additional checks may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance and repair of exhibits, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and building systems; major repairs may involve 3rd party vendors.
• Completes daily, weekly and monthly maintenance checklists and maintains records.
• Ensures efficient handling of department work orders and requests.
• Performs facility inspections and reports on conditions affecting operations.
• Operates building control systems or equipment as needed.
• Responds to emergency maintenance requests during and after hours to ensure safety and readiness.
• Assists with renovation/remodeling, plaster repair, drywall, and painting of building structures.
• Orders parts and may obtain estimates for supplies.
• Assists with installation of traveling and internal exhibits.
• Supports setup and teardown for programs and events; collaborates with various staff to ensure guest experience.
• Cleans building and grounds to deliver a high-quality guest experience and reduce liability.
• Coordinates custodial staff and restocks supplies; performs general landscaping when required.
