Job summary

Pitzer College in Claremont, CA is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to perform skilled preventive and general maintenance on facilities and building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and related equipment.

The role requires extensive trade experience, knowledge of safety practices, and the ability to read blueprints. On-call rotation and after-hours availability may be needed. Union contract rate of pay is $32.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; OR any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Six or more years of trade experience and/or full-time related experience in building and utilities maintenance, including demonstrated experience in plumbing systems and repairs.
• Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, plans, drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate, test, install, repair and perform corrective and preventative maintenance on electrical, mechanical, HVAC and plumbing systems, including domestic water systems, and commercial food service appliances.
• Perform plumbing inspections, maintenance and repair work on all fixtures, pipes, water pumps, water pump seals and pathways.
• Perform a wide range of facilities renovations, maintenance and repair work.
• Estimate costs of materials and labor, procure cost estimates from vendors and contractors, and ensure work and projects are delivered on time and on budget.
