Description

Northeast Aero Compressor and PG Aerotech are seeking an experienced Facilities Technician II to help maintain the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of our 55,000 square foot FAA Part 145 certificated repair station and MRO facility in Hauppauge, NY. This is a mid-level, hands‑on role for a technician who has moved beyond entry‑level building maintenance and is ready to take on greater ownership of preventive maintenance programs, more complex mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, and vendor coordination — while continuing to perform daily hands‑on repair and upkeep work. The Facilities Technician II reports to the Production Manager and works closely with them to keep all building systems, ground support equipment, and industrial machinery running reliably.

Requirements
  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and overhead door systems, escalating only the most complex issues to the Facilities Supervisor
  • Execute scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks and help maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, and equipment histories in compliance with repair station requirements
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic/hydraulic issues on industrial equipment and aviation ground support equipment
  • Assist in coordinating third‑party vendors and contractors for specialized inspections, certifications, and repairs
  • Perform general building maintenance including carpentry, painting, minor structural repairs, and groundskeeping/snow removal as needed
  • Conduct routine facility and safety inspections, identify hazards or worn components, and proactively address or report them
  • Support the cleanliness and organization of the facility, including production floor, offices, break rooms, restrooms, and grounds
  • Help ensure fire and life‑safety systems are functioning correctly and are tested/documented on schedule
  • Operate company vehicles and material handling equipment (e.g., forklift) to move tools, parts, and supplies between areas or job sites
  • Maintain compliance with FAA Part 145 repair station requirements, OSHA regulations, EPA standards, and applicable building codes
  • Respond to maintenance requests from building occupants and prioritize/resolve issues promptly
Experience And Skills
  • 2–5 years of experience in building/facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, or a related mechanical/electrical trade; aviation, manufacturing, or regulated‑facility experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, with demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and repair common issues
  • Some exposure to industrial equipment such as compressed air systems, generators, or pneumatic/hydraulic equipment preferred
  • Comfortable using hand and power tools safely and effectively, with strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while collaborating with the Facilities Supervisor on larger projects
  • Strong communication and customer service skills when responding to occupant requests
  • Ability to pass a pre‑employment and random drug and alcohol screening as well as a background check
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working at heights on ladders and lifts, and in confined spaces, outdoor environments, and varying temperatures
  • Manual dexterity and ability to constantly manipulate small to medium components
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs for extended periods
  • Frequent use of hand tools, power tools, and cleaning/lubricating/painting chemicals
Education / Licenses / Certifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; trade school training or an associate degree in a mechanical, electrical, or facilities‑related discipline preferred
  • Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record required
  • Forklift certification preferred, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • OSHA 10‑Hour (or higher) General Industry certification preferred, or willingness to obtain
Compensation And Benefits
  • Full‑time, hourly position: $28–$34 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and certifications
  • This range reflects a mid‑level role positioned between our entry‑level Facilities Technician/Driver and our Facilities Supervisor, based on current Long Island / Hauppauge, NY market data for facilities and building maintenance technicians
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options
  • 401(k) with 100% match on the first 4%
  • Paid holidays, vacation, and sick/personal leave accrued from date of hire
