Position Title: Facilities Technician I
Operating Company: Environmental Solutions Group - Heil Environmental
Location: Fort Payne, AL
Reports to: Facilities Supervisor
Department: Facility / Operations
Position Summary:
This person is primarily responsible for assisting with and performing self-driven maintenance of company facilities. The role is primarily on the 1st shift but requires flexibility to work other shifts or weekends as necessary.
Roles and Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and repair infrastructure and environment, including mechanical adjustments, electrical testing and upkeep, regular cleaning, and repairs. This involves lifting metal parts up to 40 lbs. and occasional overhead work.
Install bollards, repair concrete and gravel lots as needed.
Perform daily upkeep of buildings and grounds, including plumbing repairs, filling potholes, adjusting bay doors, etc.
Perform painting, sealing, and minor roof repairs.
Operate street sweeper and clean grounds.
Replace HVAC filters on exhaust fans and units weekly.
Inspect fire protection systems weekly.
Operate heating systems during cold weather, including lighting pilots and adjusting thermostats.
Maintain and clear common areas and drives in poor weather.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment, including roll-up doors, gates, fans, low voltage electrical systems, and plumbing systems.
Perform preventive maintenance on facilities equipment such as exhaust fans, doors, and HVAC systems.
Observe safety regulations and report unsafe conditions.
Attend work regularly, including during scheduled hours or other shifts as assigned. Overtime may be required.
Occasionally drive company vehicles for work, requiring a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
Perform duties in office spaces, including installing lighting, electrical outlets, and wiring.
Maintain cleanliness and order of work areas, equipment, and tools.
Operate boom lifts, skid steers, and other equipment.
Requirements:
Education: High School diploma or GED required.
Knowledge: Ability to understand basic arithmetic, follow written and verbal instructions, use PC applications like Outlook and Microsoft Office, and utilize specialized applications as needed.
Mental: Normal attention span with periods of high concentration; operate machinery approximately 50% of the time.
Physical: Walking/standing ~70%, lifting up to 40 lbs ~15%, overhead work ~10%, stooping and crouching ~5%.
Manual Dexterity: Use of hands, arms, and feet for lifting, climbing, operating tools, and recording information.
Audible Demands: Ability to hear and follow verbal instructions for safety.
Visual: Ability to observe functions, with color and depth perception.
Environmental: Exposure to dust, fumes, noise, and temperature fluctuations.
