Brightside Academy is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our early learning centers safe, functional, and welcoming for children, families, and staff in the Pittsburgh area.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 5+ years of maintenance experience, HVAC expertise, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. We offer strong benefits and opportunities for growth within Brightside’s network of centers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver's license.
• At least 5 years of building or grounds maintenance experience.
• HVAC experience required.
• Experience with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repairs.
• Strong problem-solving, organization, and time-management skills.
• Able to work independently in a fast-paced child care environment.
• Trade certifications preferred.
• Ability to use hand tools and provide basic personal tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine facility and grounds maintenance across assigned centers.
• Complete light carpentry, painting, drywall, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
• Inspect and repair toilets, urinals, flush valves, drains, and hot water heaters.
• Troubleshoot HVAC systems, including filters, belts, capacitors, and basic repairs.
• Replace light switches, receptacles, ballasts, bulbs, and ceiling tiles.
• Complete preventative maintenance on building systems, equipment, and vehicles.
• Use ladders, drain snakes, hand tools, and maintenance equipment safely.
• Respond to electronic work orders and report hazardous building conditions.
• Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Assist with janitorial tasks, grounds upkeep, snow removal, and salting walkways.
• Follow OSHA, Brightside, and state/federal safety requirements.
