HMR Veterans Services in Walterboro, SC is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe, standards-driven environment.

You will follow maintenance schedules, report issues, coordinate with nursing staff, and keep work areas clean while supporting resident comfort. This is a full-time role with a comprehensive benefits package and a mission to serve veterans.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Some experience in a maintenance/plant-related position a plus.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions and to accept constructive criticism.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner according to applicable standards and regulations.
• Follow all maintenance schedules for respective shifts or areas.
• Report all accidents/incidents to supervisor.
• Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing routine tasks in resident living areas.
• Attend departmental and staff meetings and participate in in-service trainings.
