Job summary

Alamance Foods Inc. in Burlington, NC is seeking a Facilities Technician to perform hands-on maintenance across the plant, warehouse and office spaces, handling daily repairs, preventive maintenance and small improvement projects in a GMP environment.

This role blends entry-level and intermediate tasks; you will build skills in plumbing, HVAC, welding, carpentry, dock systems, and general mechanical work while following safety rules and documenting work orders in the system.

Qualifications

• Hands-on maintenance, repair, construction, or mechanical experience preferred.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and shop equipment.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, painting, carpentry, fabrication, HVAC, dock equipment, and general facility repairs.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic facility issues and escalate when needed.
• Follow instructions, complete work, and communicate clearly with supervisors and team.
• Dependable, safety-focused, and willing to work in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
• Read basic measurements, sketches, layouts, and work instructions.
• Welding, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical experience is a plus but not required.
• Forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete facility work orders safely, efficiently, and in line with GMP policies.
• Perform hands-on repairs, painting, drywall work, doors, and general upkeep.
• Assist with plumbing repairs such as clogs, leaks, and valve work.
• Build and install shelves, workstations, and storage areas.
• Assist with welding, cutting, fabrication, and installation of metal components.
• Replace and repair dock components and safety devices.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, HVAC units, doors, and pumps.
• Support basic HVAC tasks like filters and coil cleaning under guidance.
• Document work performed, parts used, and labor time in the work order system.
• Follow safety rules, PPE, lockout/tagout, and ladder/lift safety requirements.
• Assist higher-level technicians and vendors with more complex repairs.
