Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician in the United States (PA area) to inspect, install, maintain, and repair building systems across multiple sites. You will assist occupants with workspace customization, perform mechanical and electrical maintenance including filters and temperature control, and document work in the CMMS.

The role requires 5 years of practical facility maintenance experience and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

  • Skill in use of typical test instruments (multi-meter) and hand tools.
  • Skill in troubleshooting issues and developing repairs and resolutions.

  • Ability to evaluate varied situations and make timely, appropriate decisions on necessary repairs, replacement, and modifications.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, installs, maintains, and repairs typical electrical, mechanical, and structural building systems and components.
  • Assist building occupants to customize their work spaces by installing items such as white board, pictures, shelving, break room and office equipment and other typical office furnishings.
  • Performs maintenance on building mechanical systems and electrical systems; including filters, cleaning, lubrication, temperature adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot issues and determine best method to resolve while minimizing impacts.
  • Documents all completed work within the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Maintains an inventory of replacement parts and places orders with suppliers as needed.
  • Maintains and cleans industrial mechanical and electrical spaces.
  • Performs assigned work safely, reporting unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Create and maintain a welcoming environment for staff and visitors by listening and addressing needs.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Job description

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Inspects, installs, maintains, and repairs typical electrical, mechanical, and structural building systems and components.

  • Component can include items such as walls, doors, locksets, lighting, acoustical ceilings, cabinetry, windows, air conditioning systems, exterior structure, grounds, and parking areas.

  • Assist building occupants to customize their work spaces by installing items such as white board, pictures, shelving, break room and office equipment and other typical office furnishings.

  • Performs maintenance on building mechanical systems. Service work may include filter replacement, cleaning equipment, lubricating and adjusting components, changing filters, and adjusting temperatures to accommodate occupant needs.

  • Performs maintenance on building electrical systems. Service work includes bulb, switch, and receptacle replacement and emergency light testing.

  • Troubleshoot issues and determine best method to resolve while minimizing impacts.

  • Documents all completed work within the Computerized Maintenance Management System.

  • Maintains an inventory of replacement parts and places orders with suppliers as needed.

  • Maintains and cleans industrial mechanical and electrical spaces.

  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.

  • Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.

  • Create and maintain a welcoming environment for staff and visitors by demonstrating warmth and attentiveness by actively listening and addressing the needs of others, anticipating potential concerns and going above and beyond to ensure a positive experience at our facilities.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

  • Ability to apply Infection Prevention Practices including permits and construction of containment systems.


Hours

Day Shift - 8:30a - 5p (may work other shifts as required based on operational needs)


Education and Experience Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent. Five (5) years of practical facility-based maintenance experience


Special requirements

Participate in the on-call rotation of owned and leased spaces Travel between sites or changes to reporting location may be required as needed

This position has a starting rate of $33.43 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $39.16 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $41.07. This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
