Job summary

Allen County Maintenance Assistant is responsible for a range of general repair and maintenance tasks at the Allen County Juvenile Center and related locations. The role reports to the Facilities Director and requires specialized training in electrical, HVAC, mechanical and plumbing fields.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, building upkeep, grounds maintenance, and ensuring safety of staff and residents.

Qualifications

• Specialized training beyond high school in electrical, HVAC, mechanical and plumbing fields.
• OSHA Certification.
• Valid Driver’s License to operate county vehicles.
• Working knowledge of safety practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs electrical components and equipment in public areas and secure detention facility.
• Maintains plumbing fixtures in public areas and facility plumbing to prevent overflow and flooding.
• Maintains and repairs HVAC equipment including belts, lubrication, and filters.
